The Skill-a-thon competition began with numerous ties and required a board decision on how to deal with awarding points according to the tie situation. If there is a tie for a placing in the top 5 then the points are averaged. ie: If there are 3 participants that tie for first then the points 80, 70, 60 are averaged and all that tie in that place receive that average. The internet is a good resource. The National Swine Registry offers lots of links and information and is home to the National Junior Swine Association, open to all youth with free membership. You can find them at www.nationalswine.com and click on NJSA. ***************** The skill-a-thon, which will take place between check-in and the beginning of the shows, will involve educational SWINE questions. We have not posted examples of showmanship or skill-a-thon questions since there is such a vast amount of information that could be covered.
